Stadia’s State Of The Season Highlighted By 3rd Exit In 3 Years Of Biz

Early-stage venture capital firm Stadia Ventures is midway through its seventh sports business accelerator and celebrating its third anniversary of existence. It has shared its “State of the Season” with The Sports Biz,
One of the most successful stories thus far has been Stadia’s investment in blockchain ticketing solution Upgraded (from Stadia’s Fall 2017 cohort), which was was recently acquired by Ticketmaster/Live Nation. Upgraded is focused on preventing fraud associated with event tickets as well as providing event organizers with additional control over distribution of tickets.
Stadia also celebrated a second exit in 2018 as well as three exits in its first three years of business.
The venture capital firm is also excited that it was chosen to be an accelerator investment partner (of fourteen accelerators selected in the United States) for Singapore-based data-driven venture firm Hatcher+. The data-driven startup uses AI and machine learning technologies to identify early-stage opportunities and has committed to co-invest, dollar-for-dollar, on every startup that comes through the Stadia accelerator for three years.
“Stadia Ventures has a unique position in the Sports tech and Esports market, having built a deep ecosystem of industry participants, the likes of which we have not seen anywhere else in the world,” said Hatcher+ Partner Wissam Otaky. “From the very first gathering I attended that brought this community together, I was convinced the team was building something special.”
Finally, Stadia is looking for new sports startups to be a part of its Spring 2019 cohort. The application window is now open for startups to seek up to $100,000 in investment and mentorship from leaders in the business of sports.
