The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is on a streak of announcing new sponsorship signings. Two days after revealing a new multi-year deal with Nemiroff vodka to lock up the “Official Vodka” category and one day after landing Blackheart Premium Spiced Rum as its “Official Rum,” the UFC is back with news of yet another category off the books.
UFC has entered into a new marketing partnership with Oscar Meyer and will name Oscar Mayer’s P3 Portable Protein Packs as the UFC’s “Official Protein Snack.” It is a new sponsorship category that is very specific, allowing the UFC to seek additional snack-related sponsorships in the future that are distinctive enough so as not to compete in the protein-related space.
The deal will go into effect immediately, providing P3 with a branded presence inside the Octagon starting with UFC 228. That event will also serve as the first major promotion of UFC’s sponsorship with Nemiroff.
Additionally, Oscar Mayer will have rights to use UFC athletes and official UFC logos at point of sale for participating retail locations.
“At Oscar Mayer, we know the importance of protein snacking and performance,” says Oscar Mayer General Manager Don Fussner. “Becoming theOfficial Protein Snack of UFCis a powerful fit for both companies and it’s a new and interesting platform for P3 to participate. We are looking forward to embedding our brand into the UFC culture, helping both athletes and fans alike find a more interesting way to get their protein.”
It will be interesting to see if UFC continues on its incredible pace of announcing a new partnership per day.
