RotoGrinders Fantasy Sports Community Launches Network Of Sites With New Sports Betting Coverage

One of the most popular daily fantasy sports communities has been busy expanding behind the scenes to not only improve upon its existing fantasy sports content, but also enter the booming business of sports betting. That community — RotoGrinders — has been adding so many new properties as of late that it is now announcing the creation of the RG Network, which boasts a mission of trying to establish player ranking systems in all online gaming industries.

The RG Network includes the aforesaid RotoGrinders community, as well as recently acquired PocketFives, Fantasy Insiders and more newly created sports betting community SharpSide. PocketFives will focus on online poker tournament player rankings. Between the four properties, the RG Network will cover the bases for fantasy, poker and sports betting rankings.

“With legalized sports betting and online gaming set to rapidly expand across the U.S., RotoGrinders is thrilled to announce this strategic investment in our future,” says RotoGrinders CEO Cal Spears. “RG Network will offer sports bettors more of the high-quality media and tools that the RotoGrinders’ community has come to expect, but most importantly we will focus on ranking and identifying the best sports bettors. We’re also thrilled to bring PocketFives, which I co-founded during the online poker boom thirteen years ago, into the RG Network fold. Online poker is positioned to make a comeback as regulated states pool liquidity and tournament prize pools become more attractive.”

However, the most intriguing property will undoubtedly be SharpSide, which seeks to take advantage of a boom in sports betting interest after the fall of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act (PASPA) that previously banned sports betting from the federal level. The new SharpSide app allows community members to track picks, read or contribute crowd-sourced advice and get insight from top ranked sports bettors. The app, currently only available for iOS devices, will gather picks made by users to create a variety of leaderboards that range from “Best NBA Spread Bettors” to “Best Tom Brady Yardage Prop Bettors.”

RotoGrinders was awarded a spot on the 2018 Gator100, which honors the 100 fastest growing, University of Florida Gator-owned or Gator-led businesses in the world. Its co-founder and COO Cameron MacMillan is an alum of the university.
