Streaming Content And Placing Bets At The Same Time, Coming To The FanDuel App

The ability to watch sports content live and place wagers on the event you are viewing is coming soon. An extension to an existing partnership between sportsbook and fantasy sports operator FanDuel and sports data company Sportradar will give FanDuel the ability to stream sports content through its mobile app, while allowing the consumer to seamlessly get in some action on what he is watching.
This program will take time to be built out and will not immediately include the ability to watch major sporting events such as National Football League games and place bets on the same app. It will; however, launch with some tennis matches and European soccer contests.
“The ability to live stream professional sports inside our sports betting product will provide our customers with a first class betting experience,” said FanDuel Sportsbook General Manager Niall Connell. “By making Sportradar’s Live Channel Online available alongside our betting markets, FanDuel Sportsbook continues to be the premiere sports destination in the ever growing sports betting industry.”
Media rights are very expensive to come by, which is why the FanDuel mobile app will not have the ability to stream some of the most popular American sports through the extension of its deal with Sportradar. What may be the most significant part of this announcement is that it could signify what is to come for other media rights holders who do have the access to popular American sporting events. The ability to stream content and place bets on the same app could begin with FanDuel and be extended to other sports media content apps in the future.
