DraftKings Beefs Up Sportsbook Division And Plans To Open Up New Offices

  • DraftKings will be opening up a new office in Las Vegas.
  • DraftKings has hired 2 new employees to assist its sportsbook growth and expects to grow its Massachusetts office by 75% over the next year.

After just recently opening up a new office in San Francisco, daily fantasy sports and sportsbook operator DraftKings today announced that it also plans to open up an office in Las Vegas. Additionally, DraftKings expects to grow its Massachusetts-based workforce by 75% over the next 12 months and create a new headquarters in Boston to open in early 2019.

In the meantime, DraftKings is already expanding its current workforce through the hiring of Jamie Shea, Frank Kunovic and Sean Hurley.

Shea and Kunovic will be a part of the sportsbook division, where Shea will head the digital sportsbook operations while Kunovic serves as director of retail sportsbook operations. Shea was previously with International Game Technology, helping lead North American growth opportunities; Kunovic was with Caesars, where he oversaw 20+ sportsbooks and racebooks. Hurley will lead commercial growth for the company.

DraftKings appears to be opening up its wallet to continue with expansion efforts after becoming the first operator to launch an online/mobile sportsbook in New Jersey. However, it is reportedly in the process of trying to secure roughly $200 million at a $1.5 billion pre-money valuation to help cover some of the continuing growth-related expenses.
