OBJ Spends Big Money On His Off-Season Workout Routine

Odell Beckham Jr. invests more than $300,000 into his body every offseason. The New York Giants wide receiver who signed a five-year, $90 million contract extension in August (including a $20 million signing bonus) says that in Week 14 of the National Football League season, he is still feeling like it is Week 3 as far as his body is concerned (despite being surprisingly ruled out for Week 14 with a quad injury).

In a new episode of “I Am More,” a series that Beckham Jr. has been publishing on Facebook through UNINTERRUPTED, Beckham Jr. dove into a variety of topics including his weekly body maintenance routine. He revealed that, in addition to the large offseason expenditure, Beckham Jr. is also paying for chiropractic treatments at least one time per week. Given Beckham Jr.’s salary and bonuses, he can absolutely afford it.

Beckham Jr.’s chiropractor Jody Serra was also featured in the clip, comparing a NFL Sunday afternoon to being involved in thirty car accidents. He says that basically every NFL player will suffer some kind of injury each season with the severity of those injuries differing from player to player.

The Giants wide receiver is certainly not alone when it comes to spending big money on offseason training. In fact, his expenditure is a drop in the bucket as compared to some other great athletes.

For instance, LeBron James is said to spend approximately $1.5 million annually on off-season measures that include cryotherapy, hyperbaric chambers and NomaTec leg boots.

“A lot of people think it’s a big expense, but that big expense has allowed him to make a lot more money for a long period of time,” said James’ former teammate Mike Miller.

It is something that Odell Beckham Jr. would certainly argue as well. His massive body-related expenditures allow him to engage in crazy off-season training regimens, which should benefit OBJ well into his career.
