New Jersey Devils And New York Islanders Shift To Exclusively Streaming Games

The New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders are changing the game when it comes to broadcasting on radio. They are becoming the first National Hockey League teams to stream their games exclusively for the 2018-19 NHL season. Unlike the LA Kings’ deal with IHeartRadio, there will be no more Devils and Islanders games covered on terrestrial radio.

The change comes by way of a new partnership with Entercom, which will cover all regular season and postseason games for the Devils and Islanders on Radio.com and the Radio.com app, as well as the NHL, Devils and Islanders official mobile apps and websites. The first stream will take place for the October 4 game between the Islanders and Carolina Hurricanes.

“We’re excited to expand our partnership with the New Jersey Devils and add the New York Islanders,” said Entercom Senior Vice President Jeff Sottolano. “As the fastest growing digital audio app in the United States and unrivaled leader in local sports coverage, Radio.com aims to become a daily habit for the millions of users we reach each month, including tri-state hockey fans.”

Entercom is one of the two largest radio broadcasters in the country and is heavily focusing on the growth of its Radio.com product, which has more than 300 stations and 1,100  podcasts.
