1st LaLiga Regular Season Game To Be Played Outside Europe As Part Of New 15-Year Pact

Spain’s top-flight soccer competition LaLiga has entered into a brand new 15-year 50/50 joint venture with Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross’ Relevent. The media, sports and entertainment group has proven its success in the world of soccer through its International Champions Cup events and will, for the 1st time ever, be responsible for bringing a LaLiga regular season club match to the U.S. as part of the joint venture.

The belief is that the future regular season LaLiga game will be played in South Florida.

LaLiga North America is a new joint venture between LaLiga and Relevent, owned by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross.

A new entity called LaLiga North America will be formed as part of the joint venture, which will be tasked with cultivating soccer culture in the U.S. and Canada. A major driver for the deal was the fact that the 2026 FIFA World Cup will be played throughout North America.

Additionally, the partners note that outside of the Real Madrid vs. Juventus match in the UEFA Champions League, the 3 most watched European soccer matches in the U.S. last season were LaLiga games, and Real Madrid was the most featured soccer team on TV in the U.S. last season, followed by FC Barcelona.

“Relevent has filled stadiums across the U.S. with the International Champions Cup, we’re thrilled to partner with them on a joint mission to grow soccer in North America,” says LaLiga President Javier Tebas.

Tebas and Ross have appointed former Televisa Mexico head of strategy and operations Boris Gartner as the 1st CEO of LaLiga North America. His VP of Business Development will be Nicolas Garcia Hemme, who previously provided international development for LaLiga.

Ross, Gartner and Tebas will be joined by Relevent CEO Daniel Sillman and LaLiga director of international development Oscar Mayo as board members at LaLiga North America.
