ReKTGlobal Esports Org Looks For Latin American Growth With New Investors

More people who have found their success away from gaming have decided to place their money in the esports space. A couple of newcomers are Latin music producer Tainy and music executive Lex Borrero, who are investing in the ReKTGlobal esports organization. ReKTGlobal is the parent company of professional esports team Rogue and a middle-man between traditional sports and esports, providing solutions for big brands such as State Farm, NBC Sports and Madison Square Garden Networks.
Existing investors in the operation include EDM superstar Steve Aoki and the Billboard Award-winning Imagine Dragons. Tainy and Borrero join the group after it announced a $10.8 million Series A round of funding.
The inclusion of Tainy and Borrero may be seen as strategic, with gains for ReKTGlobal beyond their respective investments. ReKTGlobal and Rogue point out that Tainy and Borrero’s inclusion should support their growth in Latin America.
Tainy is well known for his participation in producing the song “I like it” by Cardi B, Bad Bunny and J Balvin. He is also an avid gamer, which helps connect the dots for his investment.
“As a passionate gamer and supporter of Rogue, I’m excited to join ReKTGlobal as an investor,” says Tainy. “When I’m not in the studio, I’m gaming – playing everything from League of Legends, NBA 2K and Final Fantasy to Gears of War, whose soundtrack I’m currently working on, in addition to my own album.”
Borrero served as a publisher on ASCAP’s Song of the Year, “The Middle” by Zedd, and says he has been familiar with ReKTGlobal since 2017. He calls the investment a “no brainer.”
