Study: 44% Of Sports Bettors Are Under The Age Of 35

A new Nielsen Sports survey of over 1,000 adult sports fans and self-identified sports bettors across the U.S. has revealed that 71% of individuals who currently bet with a bookie would shift either some or all of their betting money to a regulated market if given access to a legal platform. That same survey noted that 44% of sports bettors are adults under the age of 35-years-old, as compared to 31% of the general population falling below that age threshold.
The survey, which was commissioned by the American Gaming Association, further revelaed that 29% of people engaged in sports betting earn a household income of over $100,000, which is approximately doube the proportion of the general population.
With the average age of an MLB fan being 57. Would you see this as an opportunity for MLB to possibly attract new fans ? What would the process look like if a team wanted to possibly implement this within their stadium in the distant future.
Absolutely. I have the toughest time watching baseball, but if I have some action on a game then that changes things a bit. Teams wouldn’t implement anything per se. States would need to allow for mobile wagering.
